Current projects
Europeana connects the online collections of Europe’s cultural heritage institutions (http://www.europeana.eu). With funding from the European Commissions Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Trans-European Telecommunications Networks Work Programme, the Europeana DSI involves a partnership of domain and national aggregators in developing an innovative platform to improve the online accessibility of Europe’s cultural heritage. 2Culture is a partner in the Europeana DSI representing the CARARE network and domain aggregator.
CARARE (http://www.carare.eu) is a Europe-wide network of heritage agencies and organisations, archaeological museums, research organisations and specialist archives. Kate Fernie is the network coordinator and 2Culture provides advice, support and training to the members who make their digital content available to Europeana.
ARIADNE (http://www.ariadne-infrastructure.eu) is a European research infrastructure, which is bringing together archaeological datasets and providing tools for researchers. 2Culture maintains and develops the ARIADNE website and provides dissemination support.
Past projects
LoCloud (http://www.locloud.eu) was a best practice network funded under the European Commission’s CIP ICT PSP programme to develop cloud-based infrastructure and services for small to medium sized cultural institutions in the context of Europeana. The project developed a series of micro-services, implemented a digital library service (LoCloud Collections) and a framework for aggregation of cultural content (MORe and MINT), provided guidance, training and support, and also supplied more than four million items of content to Europeana from archives, libraries and museums. 2Culture provided project management, dissemination services and maintained the project’s web environment.
3D Icons (http://www.3dicons-project.eu/) was a pilot project funded under the European Commission’s CIP ICT PSP programme to establish a pipeline for producing 3D replicas of archaeological monuments and historic buildings covering all of the technical, legal and organisational aspects. The project created 3D models which were provided to Europeana using the CARARE aggregation service. 2Culture provided dissemination services, maintained and developed the project’s web environment and metadata expertise.
